Short Bio

Lin Wei was born in 1958 and raised on the campus of Qufu Normal University in Shandong, China. Her earliest works of art were chalk drawings on the concrete walls of university housing. She was recognized for her artistic skills throughout her school years, and during her service in the countryside. In 1985, while teaching at Qufu Normal, Lin Wei was selected for the master's program at the Central Academy of Fine Arts in Beijing. There she completed her graduate studies in oil painting. In 1988, Lin Wei was appointed lecturer at the Shandong Institute of Fine Arts. In 1993, she was invited to deliver a lecture at Mills College in Oakland, California. Once in the United States she found opportunities to further her career and her life. In 2007, Lin Wei opened a studio in San Francisco that is now called Asian Arts School LLC. Here she offers classes to other artists.
